Content repurposing is the practice of taking one piece of content - an article, blog post, press release or report - and adapting it into different formats for different channels, rather than writing each post from scratch. A single 1,000-word article can become a LinkedIn thought-leadership post, an X thread hook, a Facebook update, an email newsletter section and two video scripts, all derived from the same source material. It is distinct from content distribution, which pushes the same unmodified content to multiple channels - repurposing adapts the format, tone and structure to fit each platform's specific audience and conventions.

The Content Repurposer automates this process. Paste any article, blog post or press release, select up to six channels, and the tool rewrites the content for each one simultaneously: LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Facebook, email newsletter, 10-second video script and 30-second video script. Each output is written to fit the format, tone and character constraints of the target channel - not just a shortened copy of the original. For LinkedIn, the model opens with a hook and uses professional register. For X, it prioritises punchy phrasing within character limits. Newsletter outputs include a suggested subject line. Video scripts are structured for spoken delivery - short sentences, active voice, no markdown that doesn't translate to speech.

The tool runs on Claude Haiku by Anthropic. Only the platforms you select are generated, keeping the process efficient. Your content is sent securely to Anthropic's API and is not stored or used to train AI models. The tool complies with UK GDPR and the current Anthropic Privacy Policy. As with all AI-generated content, outputs should be reviewed before publishing - the model works best when given clear, well-structured source material and may not capture your specific brand voice without editing. For further refinement, the JohnB.io Writing Editor supports UK and US English, 10 writing styles and direct file export.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which AI model does this tool use?
This tool uses Claude Haiku by Anthropic - the claude-haiku-4-5 model. Claude Haiku was chosen for its speed and cost efficiency for short-form content generation. Anthropic is an AI safety company; Claude is their primary large language model family.
Is my content stored or used to train AI?
No - your content is not stored or used for AI training. It is sent to Anthropic's API solely to generate the outputs, then discarded. JohnB.io does not log or retain what you submit. See the Anthropic Privacy Policy for full details.
Why is there a daily limit of 5 uses?
The tool allows 5 free uses per day per IP address without requiring a login. This keeps it accessible to everyone while preventing a single user from exhausting the daily API budget. The limit resets at midnight UTC. If you need higher-volume access, get in touch via LinkedIn.
Why does the Facebook card not have a direct Post button?
Facebook removed support for pre-filling post text via share URLs since 2017 - this is a platform restriction, not a limitation of this tool. Use the Copy button to copy the text to your clipboard, then open Facebook and paste it into a new post.
How long can my input content be?
The input accepts up to 10,000 characters - roughly 1,500–2,000 words, enough for a full blog post or article. For longer pieces, paste the most relevant section or a summary rather than the full text.
What types of content work best with this tool?
Blog posts, articles, press releases and reports work best - structured long-form content with a clear point gives the AI more material to adapt. Very short inputs (under 100 words) may produce thin outputs. The tool is designed for content marketing use cases: turning existing written content into social and video-ready formats without rewriting from scratch. If you have a YouTube video, the JohnB.io Transcripts tool can extract the transcript first, which you can then paste here.
What is the difference between content repurposing and content distribution?
Content distribution pushes the same piece of content to multiple channels without changing it - for example, sharing a blog post link on LinkedIn, X and Facebook simultaneously. Content repurposing adapts the source material into a different format and tone for each channel - the LinkedIn post leads with a professional hook, the X post is condensed to a punchy line, the newsletter has its own subject line. Distribution maximises reach; repurposing maximises relevance per platform.
What are the limitations of AI-generated outputs?
AI outputs are a starting point, not a finished product. The model may not fully replicate your brand voice, may occasionally misrepresent a nuance in the original, and works best when the source material is clear and factual. Very technical or jargon-heavy content may produce generic outputs. Always review before publishing, verify any specific claims against the original, and add the personal context and voice that makes content distinctive. The tool is most effective for generating first drafts that you then edit, not copy-paste final outputs.

How It Works

  1. Paste your content. The input accepts up to 10,000 characters - enough for a full blog post or article. The character counter updates as you type.
  2. Select your platforms. Toggle which channels you want output for: LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Newsletter, 10-second video script or 30-second video script. Only selected platforms are generated, saving time and API usage. LinkedIn is selected by default.
  3. Click Repurpose Content. Your selected content and platforms are sent to Claude Haiku. Each channel uses its own set of instructions - LinkedIn outputs are structured around a hook and professional tone; X outputs are condensed to fit character limits; newsletter outputs include a subject line; video scripts are written for spoken delivery with short, punchy sentences. The model does not simply summarise - it rewrites for each channel's conventions.
  4. Review the outputs. Each channel appears in its own card with a word or character count badge. Always review before publishing - AI outputs may not fully match your brand voice, and factual details from the original should be checked for accuracy. The Writing Editor on JohnB.io can help refine tone and style before you publish.
  5. Copy or share directly. Each card has a Copy button. LinkedIn and X cards also have direct Post buttons that open the platform with the text pre-filled (where supported by the platform).

Key Points

  • Channel-specific rewrites, not just summaries. Each output is adapted to fit its platform - X output respects character limits, LinkedIn output uses professional tone with hooks, newsletter output includes a subject line, and video scripts are structured for spoken delivery.
  • Only generate what you need. Selecting fewer platforms is faster and uses fewer API tokens. If you only need a LinkedIn post, select just LinkedIn rather than generating all six outputs.
  • Video scripts in two lengths. The 10-second script (~25–30 words) suits short-form video platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels. The 30-second script (~70–80 words) suits YouTube Shorts or pre-roll ads.
  • Free with a daily limit. The tool allows up to 5 uses per day per IP address to keep it available without a login requirement. The limit resets at midnight UTC.
  • Data privacy. Your content is sent to Anthropic's API only to process the request. It is not stored, logged or used for training by JohnB.io or Anthropic.
